5 Must-Do’s On Your Vancouver Vacation

Vancouver When you head out for vacation, it’s beneficial to know the best things to see and do in your destination of choice. Luckily, if you’ll be visiting Vancouver this season, there is a never-ending list of things to do. Here are the top five tourist attractions in the city:

1. Stanley Park

Stanley Park is known the world-over as one of the greatest parks ever constructed. The first park in the city, it is also one of the main tourist draws. Covering 1,000 acres, the park boasts an abundant community of wildlife, beautiful trees and natural grounds. Throughout the summer, the park is host to a myriad of artistic events that visitors can enjoy.

The park is also home to the Vancouver Aquarium and a myriad of dining establishments. Tourists can easily spend an entire day in the park enjoying the sights and sounds.

2. Granville Island

Granville Island is home to a public market, retail boutiques, dining establishments and dozens of activities designed to entertain tourists and locals alike. If you’re traveling with children, the Kids Market sells items for children, has an Adventure Zone and a water park. Once you’ve browsed through the market and tired out the kids, it’s time to catch a show and then head back to your room. If you decide that you’re up for a bit more exploring, stop by any one of the red information huts on the island and grab a brochure highlighting some of the things to do.

Over one million people have crossed the Capilano Suspension Bridge since it was built in 1889. Not for the faint-hearted, the bridge is 230 feet high and 450 feet long. The bridge has been reconstructed over time to make it as safe as possible. The hemp handrails have been replaced by pre-stressed cables and the bridge is weighted with anchors to ensure its safety. Spend time on the bridge but make sure that you take part in a cliff walk and the popular Treetops Adventure before you call it a day.

4. Robson Street

This popular shopping district is a much loved destination among tourists and locals alike. Covering three city blocks, the shopping Mecca is home to fine dining, premier fashion stores and a variety of services. By day, you’ll find people strolling along the streets, shopping until they drop. By night, street vendors and entertainers thrill pedestrians with artistic, high-energy performances. If you don’t have thousands of dollars to drop, stop by a café and order a coffee and a muffin and sit outside on the sidewalk for a bit of people watching.

Grouse Mountain is the ultimate destination for those who want a bit of adventure to go with their vacation. From sleigh rides to ice skating; mountain ziplines to the skyride, the mountain is an adrenaline junkie’s dream come true. Visitors can quite easily spend two or more nights on the mountain and still feel as though there is more adventure to be had. If you’ve got to pick one must-do on this list, Grouse Mountain is it!

If you’re heading to Vancouver on your next vacation, you’ll find all of the fun and adventure you’re looking for at these top five destinations. Try to plan your time accordingly so that you aren’t left feeling as though you wish you’d done just one more thing when you walk away. Vancouver offers so much to see and do that you’ll need to spend at least a week in the magnificent city!
