We have all seen the late-night infomercials touting the latest piece of exercise equipment. All of these companies claim that this is the one true machine which will change your life. The companies producing these machines often make millions hawking these products on late night television. The reason they sell so many units is because everyone who is interested in weight loss is looking for the easiest possible solution.
The marketers behind these pieces of equipment do a fantastic job of selling these products. They surround their equipment with beautiful skinny models and muscular men all claiming they have achieved their perfect bodies with this particular machine. The problem with many of the claims by these companies, is that many of the results can be obtained through minimal or no equipment whatsoever with simple exercises. Many of the testimonials given by people in these programs are often fake. You can achieve the rock hard bodies you see in these commercials; however, it is going to take hours of hard work in the gym and not some piece of flimsy equipment you buy on a late-night program.
So without further ado, here are the 7 most worthless pieces of exercise equipment of the last decade.
This piece of equipment is set up similar to a stair climber with bike handlebars attached to it. As you are stepping up and down on the foot pedals you also twist the handlebars back and forth. They claim this gives you a total body workout; however, you appear more like someone who is trying to ride their bicycle home from a late night at the bars.
This is one of the funniest fitness equipment ever made! You have to look at the commercial and imagine using one of these chairs at work. It is sold for 249 bucks and despite the great (and funny) advertisement I do not believe (I really do not want to believe it) that anyone actually bought it!
They claim this belt will help melt away pounds by creating a mini sauna where you place it. Somehow this is supposed to increase your metabolism to aid in your weight loss.
This one is coming from the 1960′s and it is a real failure. Not only it will not help you lose weight, you need to own a road to use it and of course will make you look stupid. The only one who will be jealous of you is your hamster. Thankfully some things have become better since the 60′s!
Baby exercise bike is supposed to help your baby sleep while you enjoy your bike exercise. In theory this may work but in practice we all know that it is not practical or useful. Exercise bike won an Innovation Contest and this is as far as it goes.
This is a great one. Tones your tummy and thighs by mimicking the motions of horse back riding. Every gym should have one of these just for the sheer enjoyment of watching other patrons ride it.
Last but not least the dumbbell phone! Just look at the picture and imagine having this device attached to your phone or better your mobile. It certainly can do wonders to your biceps! We said many times that weight loss needs innovation but this goes beyond any expectation and grosses the line to stupidity.
Myln writes about healthy ways to lose weight. If you want to avoid scams and learn how to lose weight the proper way then stay away from weird fitness equipment. The only way to lose weight is the healthy way and this is through exercise and balanced diet.

I do it, I hate to admit. and once I do it I wish I could erase it from my record and pretend to myself and the world around that it never happened.
I’ve tried and tried again to stop it from happening. to FEEL the feeling instead of feed it. to shake myself out of the trance. it’s just hard. It’s been going on for so long.
Everyone does it, from what I can tell. We just have different definitions and different ways of experiencing it. It’s nice to know it’s a human trait and nobody’s perfect.
that being said, however, I still want to nip it in the butt.
