Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012

This antivirus program is great at blocking and removing viruses, but it has been shown to be ahead of the pack with detection. According to many lab tests, the detection rate is 100%, with low figures pointing towards the high 90s. There is one problem with program, and it’s the price. It is $59.95, but this may actually be good for homes or small offices. The program automatically comes with three licenses, which actually makes it cheaper than many of its competitors.

Just a quick stroll through your local hardware store is all it takes: you’ve come down with a case of tool overload. From hand planes to stud finders, torpedo levels to needle-nose locking pliers, random orbital sanders to routers, the sheer amount of tools out there can be overwhelming.

Don’t worry — unless you’re considering a career in woodworking or construction, you really don’t need all of those fancy tools. You can take care of most minor fixes around the house as long as your tool box is stocked with five basic essentials: a screwdriver, torque wrench, hammer, putty knife and crescent wrench.

While they may seem very different, these basic tools share a few common characteristics:

1. Screwdriver: No tool box would be complete without a screwdriver. Besides the obvious use — removing and inserting screws — screwdrivers create leverage, scrape and pry. Plus, screws generally hold things together better and are easier to remove than nails; screw shafts are lined with inclined planes that employ a force known as torque to secure weight. Screwdrivers come in two basic shapes: flathead and Phillips. Flathead screwdrivers have a straight blade that fits screws with a single, straight slot. Phillips screwdrivers fit into screws with plus-shaped slots. A multipurpose screwdriver has several different tips that you can snap onto the shaft, depending on which type of screw you’re using.

When it’s time to pull out the big guns, make sure you have a torque wrench in your kit. This indispensable tool allows you to specify how much torque you apply to a screw, nut or bolt. This way, you avoid the dreaded over-tightening syndrome, which leads to stuck screws or nuts, not to mention frustration, and have the satisfaction of knowing your fasteners are squeezed just as tight as they need to be.
3. Hammer: For prying, pounding and fastening, you can’t beat a hammer. The 16-ounce claw hammer is one of the handiest options. This adjustable wrench has a sliding clamp that changes the width of its jaws, so you can get the perfect grip no matter what size of nut, bolt or screw you’re working with.                                                                                                                         

As a homeowner, or even an apartment dweller, having a decent set of tools is paramount to your survival. You never know when you’ll have to break out your handheld tools to fix a hole, secure a weight or tighten a bolt. Even if you are traveling to a warm weather climate, the temperature can take a turn for the worse. Don’t pack for one temperature! Pack several layers of light clothing for each member of your family and don’t forget socks and a pair of tennis shoes for each.
