Five Museums Kids Will Love

Museums are known for their ability to teach children valuable lessons while simultaneously keeping them entertained. Here is a list of five excellent museums that kids won’t want to leave.

1. Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

With 472,900 square feet, the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is the largest children’s museum in the world. This museum includes enough activities and exhibits to keep a family busy for more than one day. Can’t-miss exhibits at this attraction include Science Works, Ancient Egypt and Dinosaur World.

Why they’ll love it – This huge museum has tons of interactive activities to keep kids entertained all day long.

2. Museum of Science and Industry

Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry expands to cover almost 14 acres with interactive exhibits that teach kids about a variety of scientific principles. Some of the best exhibits for children include Mythbusters, Science Storms and You! The Experience.

Why they’ll love it - The Museum of Science and Industry gets kids involved in the learning process by inviting them to participate in hands-on experiments. In addition, it is just one of many kid-friendly attractions in Chicago. To get the most out of the visit, families can stay at one of the many centrally located downtown Chicago hotels and travel to other attractions during the same trip.

3. Please Touch Museum

Located in Philadelphia, the Please Touch Museum has plenty of activities for children of all ages. Families visiting this museum should make sure to experience FairyTale Garden, Live Theater and Rainforest Rhythm.

Why they’ll love it - Most of the exhibits at this museum are interactive, and younger children can participate in many of the activities alongside their older siblings.

4. Chicago Field Museum

The Chicago Field Museum is another excellent destination for families visiting the Windy City. With exciting educational experiences like Waking the T-Rex, Extreme Mammals and Ancient Egypt, children and adults alike will be entertained all day long.

Why they’ll love it - The Field Museum brings history to life, thus allowing children to learn about the past through experiences, such as 3D movies, well-designed interactive exhibits and discussions with scientists.

5. Boston Children’s Museum

For over 90 years, the Boston Children’s Museum has been captivating children with meaningful exhibits and hands-on educational activities. Must-see exhibits at this museum include Construction Zone, which mimics Boston’s Big Dig, and the Global Gallery, which showcases children’s exhibits from around the world. Children will also enjoy the Japanese Home exhibit, which features a 100-year-old home from Kyoto.

Why they’ll love it – The Boston Children’s Museum exists to teach children about the world through interactive learning and play. Because children can use their imaginations and involve themselves in the exhibits, they will be more than happy to spend the whole day at this attraction.

When children are involved in learning, they retain more information and enjoy the process as a whole. All of these museums use this fact to their advantage by turning their exhibits into interactive educational experiences that both entertain and teach children at the same time. Each of these museums has something special to offer, and they are all excellent destinations for any family trip.
